Studio lighting takes a bit of time to understand, but once you get the hang of it and understand it you can become very creative. People put a soft box on because the light is soft, they put a beauty dish on because the light is hard, but are they?

Do you know how a softbox works? Do you know how to create spot lights? Do you know why we have different size beauty dishes?

This workshop is put together to show you how modifiers work and how to create the best light from them. A model will also be present for this workshop so we can put the theory to test.

A day at the Ballet

 2nd June 2024

Ever wanted to photograph a professional dancer? Do you need High Speed lighting to do this?

Join me at the studio with a professional ballet dancer Alison  who is amazing to learn the skills of lighting your subject and how to create amazing images using materials, jumps and twirls. Look for that perfect shot and get the timing just right. Now get creative with some lighting and get those stunning images. Not only will you learn how to light and work with a dancer but you will get some amazing images for your portfolio too. This will be an amazing day!

Budapest (Photoshoot & Workshop Combined)

4th-7th June 2024

Budapest is just one of those amazing city's you will ever see. The architecture is just out of this world, everywhere you turn you see something different. Because of this I have chosen this to be one of the locations to visit and shoot in 2024.

We will be shooting over two days in two different locations which will give us plenty of time to create a variety of images that will look amazing. On both days we will also have 2 amazing models joining us. This trip is a photoshoot and workshop combined, this allows each photographer to get images of their own style and idea, I will be with you through the whole time to guide, assist and advice with how to get the most of the location and images using both ocf and natural light. Nobody will be coming away with poor images. 

Not only that you get to stay in an apartment that is located in the centre of the city and you will have time to explore too. We will also be eating in some local restaurants as we watch this city light up at night and come to life.

Amazing Location Shoot

14th June 2024

How would you like to shoot in an amazing location with two stunning models?

If so then this date is not to be missed. Both Eowyn Luna and Pebbles will be working throughout the day from Fashion, lingerie, art nude or however you would like to shoot them, who are both very experienced models. The location itself is absolutely amazing along with stunning views and backdrops as well as derelict buildings, full details will be given to those who book. This will include the meeting points, the plan for the day and safety precautions. The day is open to 8 photographers only and will be split into two groups.  Each photographer will have plenty of time to shoot as a 1-1 in several of the locations around the area and you will be coming away with a lot of stunning images.  I will be around both groups all day so any assistance you need will be at hand.

Please be aware that we will be meeting early morning to get to the location, a meeting point close to the location will also be handed out if you wish to meet us straight there.

Wedding Workshops

1st July 2024

Weddings are a big part of photography, whether you are looking for a career change or looking to improve your photography skills and working with clients, my workshops are here to help point you in the right direction. A bride and groom will also be present.

During the day we will cover: My workflow - Images taken at real weddings and how I achieved them - Looking for the best available light - using everyday equipment and shooting with natural light to speed lights (ocf) - positioning of lights and modifiers used - posing the bride and groom - processing and finishing the image through to Wedding album designing. This is a jam packed full of information day.

Each photographer needs to bring along a camera and any equipment you already work with, (if unsure what you have is suitable or not please just ask) if you're a beginner my equipment will also be available to use, everyone will be taking images. You may also wish to take notes on the day.

Throughout the day we also have jugs of water, unlimited tea and coffee and lunch provided too.

Gel Lighting (shoot to finish) Workshop

Shooting with gels is quite easy to do but you have such a big variety of colours and even down to the positioning of the gel light can either make or break your image. I would much prefer amazing results to make finishing the image easier and effective.

Not only will you be shown how to get the image but you will also learn the photoshop skills to finish the image too so a pen and pad will be needed.

This workshop is aimed to give you something new to add either to your portfolio of even your clients, join me for the day for this amazing workshop!

Location fashion and lighting 'Chester' (natural and ocf)

14th July 2024

Do you shoot wedding, portraits, fashion photography etc..? If so then this workshop is perfect for you as its all about location lighting.

When shooting fashion on the streets its not only the clothing you need to think about, the location to suit the items is also just as important! Even when with a Bride and groom you really need to pull something out the bag for a wow image as this is their special day!  You really need to think about what is the best way to light your subject to give the best effect. Also every location is different so you need to decide is natural light or flash needed? Using Off Camera Flash can totally transform images.

During the day the model will bring a large selection of clothing and the location and lighting options will be chosen, you will be shown how to find the direction of light and when flash is used, where is the best position, how to meter correctly, balance with ambient or use as the main light source.

Algarve Photography Trip 

 4th-10th September 2024

Always thought about shooting overseas? Getting up knowing it's going to be a nice day! You can shoot in various locations for 6 days with 7 modesl! How good does this sound? Off Camera Flash Evening Workshop

24th October 2024

Shooting in the dark can be quite a challenge, most like to leave the flash on top of the camera put it in ettl and fire away. This doesn't always give you the best results and not what you are looking for.

This workshop is to help you get better results, whether it's a portrait sitting, a wedding or anything else you like to shoot. 

So many people talk about using off camera flash but never really understand how to do it correctly. Many turn to YouTube to which most of the information is incorrect and tell you all about high speed sync, what they don’t tell you is you'll soon burn out your flash and high speed sync turns your flash into a strobe acting as a continuous light and can lead to blurred images. When using high speed sync your images start to become guess work as you then rely on your lcd screen to tell you if you have the correct exposure or not, again your lcd screen isn't calibrated possibly leading to incorrect exposures. The same with ttl, each image you take you may have different exposures for each shot as you're allowing your camera and flash to do the work. I want my brides or clients to have the perfect image.  Join me and learn how to do this the correct way.
